County Delivers Warning to Board on Audit

In an effort to avoid further potential issues with state and federal funding partners- the  Allegany County Commissioners Thursday delivered a stern warning to the Board of Education Thursday: have this year’s audit complete by November 1 or face some consequences. The board’s audit, which was due to the county October  of last year- was not submitted until two weeks ago- a full ten months late. Those delays put the county in jeopardy with the state and federal governments for failing to be in compliance. Commissioners President Jake Shade…

The board’s audit has been late on a number of occaisions in recent years.
