County Fire & EMS Changing Protocol in Response to Coronavirus

March 27th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County Fire and EMS agencies will be using a new protocol used to self-quarantine patients at home with symptoms consistent with the COVID-19 virus. Emergency Services Public Information Officer Lieutenant Todd Bowman says the new protocol will result in some patients with mild symptoms being allowed to remain at home rather than taken to the hospital…

Bowman says that EMS crews will not be performing swabbing for COVID-19 testing in the field, only making a call on whether the patient can remain at home, or should go to the hospital. Garrett County EMS will be using the same protocol.
