County Fiscal Picture Bleak With $1.6 Million Shortfall

April 11th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

The fiscal picture painted for the Allegany County Commissioners on Thursday afternoon was a bleak one- with a decline of close to $860,000 in income taxes. Those losses will not allow the county to provide any funding increases to departments and agencies seeking additional money for the upcoming fiscal year as there is a shortfall of more than $1.6 million in projected revenues compared to requested expenditures.  County Administrator David Eberly said he hopes those seeking budgets hikes will understand the county’s delicate fiscal situation.
