County Hires Firm for Bridge Inspections

September 10th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

A Towson based firm has been awarded a contract by the Allegany County Commissioners for a total of 71 bridge inspections.  Paul Kahl, the county’s director of public works  said county bridges require regular inspections, and all bridges over a 20-foot span must be inspected every two years. The bridges set for inspection under the contract include 56 in the county, 10 in Cumberland, three in Lonaconing, and one each in Midland and Westernport.  Failure to inspect the bridges could prove costly as  federal dollars for the county would be jeopardized…
