County Meeting With SHA Representatives Leaves Brodie Frustrated

A recent meeting between Allegany County officials and representatives from the Maryland State Highway Administration regarding commercial permitting delays left Commissioner Creade Brodie Jr. frustrated with the apparent red tape blocking several key projects. Brodie, along with Economic Development Specialist Jeff Barclay met last week with the District 6 Engineer and Steven Foster, chief and development for the SHA's Access Management Division. While local SHA representatives were cooperative, Brodie says Foster was not. With projects such as a Cracker Barrel restaurant, a new Sheetz store in LaVale and Love’s Truck Stop in various stages of delay, Brodie renewed his call for Commissioner Mike McKay to schedule a meeting with the state’s Secretary of Transportation…
