County To Hold Ribbon Cutting At Former Cumberland Chase

June 5th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

A ribbon cutting ceremony for Laurelhurst Boulevard will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at 3:30 p.m.  Laurelhurst Boulevard intersects with US Route 220 across from the Barton Business Park. In the past, this was referred to as Cumberland Chase.

The Allegany County Commissioners, Jacob C Shade, Creade V. Brodie, Jr., and William R. Valentine, recently awarded a contract to The Belt Group, Cumberland, Maryland, for this project. Carl O. “Buck” Belt, Jr., President, and Jeremy G. Irons, Project Manager and Corporate Secretary, will represent The Belt Group at this event.

The $1.1 M project consists of roadway construction for Laurelhurst Boulevard, roadway widening along US Route 220, water and sewer installation, and storm drain and storm water structure installation. Laurelhurst Boulevard will provide access to nearly 390 acres of county-controlled property. Allegany County is currently soliciting Request for Proposals from real estate developers for this property.
