COVID Death Total in MD Surpasses 6K

Another grim milestone was announced Thursday for the state of Maryland, which has surpassed 6,000 deaths related to the coronavirus.  44 deaths occurred over a one-day period, bringing the statewide total to 6,004.  Three deaths were reported in Allegany County on Wednesday. 

According to the state's health department, Maryland's positivity rate was down slightly at 9.3%.

1.63% of the state residents been vaccinated against COVID-19 with the first dose, and .02% with the second dose.

Current hospitalizations remain above 1,800 but were down slightly, as of Thursday morning.
