Cox Comments on New Allegany Being Team Effort

Talk of the need for a new Allegany High School first surfaced in the 1960’s. In 1982, a multi-million dollar renovation was performed on the state’s oldest standing school.  Now after decades of talk and short term upgrades the dream of construction of a brand new high school becomes a reality when the ground breaking ceremony takes place Monday morning at the Haystack Mountain site.  Securing some $50 million in funding for the project took around two years- with the final piece of the puzzle- $3.5 million- being approved by the Maryland Board of Public Works two weeks ago.  Allegany County School Superintendent David Cox says bring this project to fruition was a true team effort…
