Cox Comments on Response to Threats at Schools

Just two weeks ago, on back to back days, threatening messages were left at Allegany and Fort Hill high schools. In the Allegany incident, the students were actually evacuated and transferred to Braddock Middle school for the remainder of the day. With some parents criticizing the school board for how such incidents are handled- as well as with the dissemination of information- School Superintendent David Cox recently provided an overview of the process.  Cox said that the first step taken by administration at a school when a threat is reported is to contact police- not the central office of the board.
