The proposed budget submitted by Allegany County School Superintendent Dr David Cox to the board of education calls for a 6.1% increase in funding from the county- and reflects an overall increase of 2.9%. Cox’s budget, presented during a special meeting of the board Friday afternoon, totals $116.5 million. A little more than $32 million will be requested from the county when the two sides meet later this month- that essentially calls for $1.5 million above last year’s allocation. Finance Director Larry McKenzie noted that the additional costs include the hiring of 5 teachers to help lower the teacher to student ratio- and three additional school security officers- which would bring the total to 12 systems wide. Mckenzie said some of the concerns, or unknowns, include rising health care costs…

I guess it would be to much to hope for our Commissioners to “just say NO!”

maybe they should look at some of the paycheck s some of the teachers and COACH S are getting including mr, cox and bring them ALL back to reality,for example ,take a look what other people in the area make,or maybe let them pay for their own health ins like so many other WORKING people have to.
