CPD Makes Assault, Destruction Of Property & Trespassing Arrests

On Monday, September 19, 2016 Officers from the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on James Evans.  The summons stemmed from an incident that occurred in August 2016 on Fayette Street in Cumberland.  The victim filed charges at the District Court Commissioners Office.  The victim stated James Evans beat him with his fists, knocked out three of the victim’s teeth and chipped a fourth tooth.  The victim also suffered facial injuries as a result of the assault.  The summons was served and Evans was released pending trial in Allegany County District Court.

 

Arrested:

James Evans, age 69, of Cumberland, MD

Charges: Assault – First Degree and Assault – Second Degree

 

Destruction of Property Arrest

On Monday, September 19, 2016 Officers from the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Richard Dossi.  The summons stemmed from an incident that occurred at the Western Maryland Health System in August 2016.  Officers responded to the hospital in regards to a subject, Richard Dossi, which had allegedly broken a table.  Dossi denied damaging the table.  Charges were filed and the summons was issued.  The summons was served and Dossi was released pending trial in Allegany County District Court.

Charge: Malicious Destruction of Property

 

Trespassing Arrest

On Monday, September 19, 2016 at approximately 1:56 AM Officers conducted a patrol check of the Gazebo on Bridge Street in Cumberland.  While checking the area they observed a subject, Terry Zais, sleeping in the Gazebo.  Zais was issued a criminal citation charging him with Trespassing on posted property.  After receiving his summons, Zais was released on his personal recognizance.

Terry Zais, age 47, Ridgeley, WV

Charges: Trespassing on Posted Property
