On Thursday, September 1, 2016 Officers from the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Mario Caperna.  The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred at a Browning Street residence on August 31, 2016.  Officers responded to the residence for the report of a disturbance.  As a result of an investigation it was determined that Caperna assaulted a female resident.  At the time Caperna complained of an unrelated injury and was transported to the Western Maryland Health System for treatment.  Charges were then filed on Caperna and he was later placed under arrest for these charges.  He was taken to the District Court Commissioner’s Office and was then ordered held on $2,500 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

 

Arrested:

Mario Caperna, age 55, of Cumberland, MD

Charges: Assault –Second Degree and Dangerous weapon with intent to injure.

 

Warrant Arrest

On Thursday, September 1, 2016 Officers from the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Walter Porter.  The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred at a residence on Utah Avenue on August 28, 2016.  Officers responded to the residence for a reported breaking and entering.  After an investigation it was determined that Walter Porter had entered the residence without permission and removed items.  Charges were filed and the warrant was issued.  He was placed under arrest for these charges.  He was taken to the District Court Commissioner’s Office released on his personal recognizance.

Charge: Fourth Degree Burglary

 

Domestic Assault Arrest

On Thursday, September 1, 2016 Officers responded to a South Street residence for a reported domestic assault.  Upon their arrival they spoke to the victim.  The victim the suspect, Kevin Scarlett, assaulted her several times and caused several visible injuries.  Scarlett was present and stated he was in an argument with the victim.  He stated he was also assaulted but had no injuries.  Scarlett was placed under arrest and charged with second degree assault.  He was processed and taken before the District Court Commissioner’s Office.  He was released on his personal recognizance.
