On 11/07/16 the Cumberland Police Dept served a summons on 41 year old Kevin Shears of Cumberland. The incident stems from an investigation initiated by the Cumberland Police Dept on 11/2/16 when Officers responded to the parking lot of the Cumberland Times News for a hit and run complaint. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim who advised that they parked their vehicle for a short period of time unattended and upon their return they observed damage to the driver side rear taillight and rear pillar. Officers were able to obtain surveillance video of the incident. Investigation led to the identification of Shears as the suspect once the video evidence was obtained. As a result Shears was served the summons charging him with Failure to remain at the scene of a property damage accident, Failure to notify owner of unattended property damage accident, and other traffic related charges. Shears was released pending trial in District Court.
