Creating Permit-Ready Locations a Top Priority for CEDC Director

June 24th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Creating a made to order, permit ready location within the city limits to help attract new businesses or creating expansion opportunities for existing businesses has been identified as a priority for the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation. During this month’s regular meeting, CEDC executive director Paul Kelly said that  there are no shortage of requests coming in, but for any number of reasons those overtures can’t be  adequately addressed at this time…

Kelly said it would benefit the city to identify a location and develop it as a potential target for new business and business expansion…

He is pissing away $10 million to spruce up Baltimore Street but he does not know where to put all the businesses chomping at the bit to open here ?!? He is overwhelmed with requests from businesses ?!? He expects folks to swallow this nonsense ?!?

    Ditto Bob!

Kelly and Miller have already taken a large track of land known as rolling mills and wasn’t able to completely clear the entire track of residences.

Using 10 million to update water and sewer lines and destroying the downtown mall with a street no one wants but Larry Jackson.

Now they want the authority to clear another area of land in the city to build cookie cutter factories? Watch out neighborhoods Kelly and Miller are coming for you next!

From one incomplete project to another.. I wish someone would just point to one project the CEDC has was successful with and oversaw from start to completion other than a business lunch they billed the city for.

This will all get straightened out when we get a new downtown manager.
