Cumberland Arms getting new roof

March 30th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports renovation of The Cumberland Arms is about 70 percent complete, according to David Rieske, project manager for The Hampstead Companies, the San Diego, Calif.-based, owners of the 69-unit apartment complex on Liberty Street. The apartments are targeted toward the senior population and subsidized with a government contract. "We started in October and should be finished in mid-July," Rieske said Wednesday morning as he stood on Liberty Street and watched a 90-ton crane from Carl Belt lift roofing materials atop the high-rise. Rieske said a 160-ton crane will be required for a future portion of the renovation that will require some tricky maneuvering of heavy materials. "We have also put solar panels on the roof," he said.
