Cumberland Man Arrested On Disturbing The Peace & Other Charges

On Thursday, December 12th, 2019 the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Boone Street residence for the report of a male causing a noise disturbance. Records showed that officers have responded to this particular residence on 13 separate occasions since September for similar complaints. When officers arrived, they could hear a male, identified as Michael Wayne Bergman from within the residence disturbing neighbors. Officers then contacted Bergman to make him aware of the noise complaint at which time he told offices that he would not obey any lawful orders. At this time, he was told that he was under arrest at which time Bergman told officers that he was not under arrest. However, Bergman was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, obstructing and hindering, and failure to obey a lawful order. He was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await a bond review before the District Court Commissioner.
