Cumberland Man Arrested on Domestic Assault

On July 25, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department were contacted at Police Headquarters in reference to a domestic assault.  Officers were contacted by a female victim who informed officers that she was assaulted and held against her will inside a residence on Henderson Avenue.  The victim told officers that several days ago, she was arguing with Jason Crandall when the incident turned physical.  According to the victim, Crandall grabbed her and threw her to the ground.  Crandall began choking and kicking the victim before taking her phone from her.  The victim told officers that Crandall refused to allow her access to her phone and kept her from leaving the residence.   The victim also told officers that Crandall broke her phone, slashed her car tire and broke her car keys.  Once the victim was able to run from the residence, she contacted the police to report the incident.  As a result of this incident, officers responded to 431 Henderson Avenue where they took Jason Crandall into custody.  Crandall was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Crandall was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Crandall was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on a temporary commitment.

Arrested: Jason Thomas Crandall                                                  Age: 35 of Cumberland, Maryland

Charges: False Imprisonment, 2nd Degree Assault and Two counts of Destruction of property.
