Cumberland Man Charged with Home Invasion, Assault

On Sunday November 1st, 2020 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 600 block of East First Street for a home invasion. Upon officers arrival they spoke with a victim who had sustained serious injuries, and claimed that a male suspect wearing a mask had assaulted them with a knife, while trying to steal their property. The victim was transported to the hospital and officers canvassed the area for witnesses and attempted to locate the suspect. Officers spoke with a witness who was able to provide information that the suspect had entered the residence uninvited. Officers interviewed the victim, spoke to witnesses and gathered evidence which lead them to develop Patrick Fitzgerald Martin Jr as the suspect in the home invasion. Officers learned that Martin also had an active Arrest Warrant through the Maryland State Police, and conducted a search for him. Martin was later located and was placed under arrest on the active Arrest Warrant. While officers served the Arrest Warrant they located evidence of the home invasion and Martin was additionally charged for the incident.

Arrest: Patrick Fitzgerald Martin Jr, age 24, Cumberland Maryland.

Charges: Home Invasion, Burglary 3rd Degree, Armed Robbery, Robbery, Assault First Degree, Assault Second Degree, and Theft Less than $100.

Arrest Warrant Charges: Burglary 1st Degree, Theft Under $1,000, and Destruction of Property
