Cumberland Mayor And City Council Play Host To Italian Counterparts

Although not part of the popular “sister cities” program- the Cumberland Mayor and City Council played hosts Thursday afternoon to a delegation of their counterparts from Montesarchio, Italy. The group was headed by Mayor Antonio Izzo as well as the Consul General of Italy; the President of the Italian Cultural Center; as well as citizen representatives and the media. Cumberland Mayor Brian Grim greeted the contingent at City Hall and that was followed by presentations on the historical aspects of Cumberland as well as the city’s economic development initiatives. A walking tour of the downtown mall was headed by Downtown Manager Ed Mullaney with a stop at Canal Place as well as a visit to Washington’s Headquaters and the National Road Monument. Grim talked with WCBC News about the day long “cultural exchange”…
