Cumberland Mayor Ray Morriss tells WCBC News that while it’s easy and perhaps understandable that many residents share a dim view of the city’s future- after just ten months on the job, he says he can see a light at the end of the tunnel. The city of Cumberland is in horrific shape. I am happy that anyone would even try to be a elected official here. The population has fallen below 19,000. If something is not done in the next 12 months … it will be difficult to reverse the trend.
