Cumberland Police Investigate Domestic Complaints

Domestic Assault Arrest

On Saturday, February 14, 2015 at approximately 4:00 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence located in the 500 block of Columbia Avenue in reference to a domestic assault.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with a male victim who stated that he was assaulted by his girlfriend, Jeanne Lynn Cross.  Officers observed fresh, bloody injuries on the victims face.  The victim stated that he had an argument with Cross over her being jealous.  The victim stated that Cross punched him in the face which caused his injuries.  The victim did not require medical treatment.  Cross was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Cross was then taken to District Court for her initial appearance.  Cross was released on her personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

Arrested:

Jeanne Lynne Cross – age 53 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:

Second degree assault.

Domestic Assault Arrest

On Saturday, February 14, 2015 at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence located in the 600 block of Shriver Avenue in reference to a domestic assault.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with the female victim who stated that she was assaulted by her boyfriend, Robert Owen Pomeroy.  The victim stated that Pomeroy fled the residence prior to officer’s arrival.  Officers were able to see a fresh injury to the victim’s bottom lip which was bleeding.  The victim stated that Pomeroy arrived home and began to argue with her, Pomeroy grabbed her by her shirt and punched her in the face causing the injury to her lip.  A description of Pomeroy was broadcast to other units.  Pomeroy was located hiding behind a residence in the area of Pulaski Street and Henderson Avenue.  Pomeroy was placed under arrest and during a search of his person a small amount of Marijuana less than ten grams was located.  Pomeroy was transported to Police Headquarters for processing.    

Pomeroy was later taken to District Court for his initial appearance and was held on $5000.00 at the Allegany County Detention Center.  The victim did not require medical treatment for her injuries.

Robert Owen Pomeroy – age 31 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:

Second degree assault, CDS possession of drug paraphernalia. Civil Citation issued for possession of Marijuana less than ten grams.
