Cumberland Police Serve A Number Of Warrants & Investigate Hit And Run

On 08/31/17 the Cumberland Police Dept served the following warrants:

·         27 year old Michael Anthony Walker of Waynesboro PA, Failing to appear in District Court on an original charge of Theft. Walker was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held on a $3500 bond.

·         66 year old Gary Wayne Smith of Cumberland. Smith was served with a parole retake warrant charging him with violation of conditions of parole on original charges of sexual assault. Smith was taken to the Western Correctional Institution pending a court appearance.

·         50 year old Yolanda Bauman of Cumberland. Served with a bench warrant for failing to follow conditions of pre trial release. Bauman is currently awaiting an initial appearance.

·         25 year old Jeremiah Kenneth Lafferty of Barton, Bench Warrant served for violation of probation on original charges of Theft Scheme. Lafferty was taken for an initial appearance where he was released after posting a $500 bond.

·         28 year old Samantha Elizabeth Ann Swick of Cumberland, Bench Warrant served for failing to appear in District Court on an original charge of Driving without a license and uninsured. Swick was taken for an initial appearance where she was released on her personal recognizance pending her next court appearance.

·         28 year old Jeffrey Lee Helle-Malcolm of Cumberland, Circuit Court warrant for failing to appear for violation of probation hearing. Malcolm was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center to await an initial appearance.

·         24 year old Marquise Laniell Carpenter of Cumberland served with a fugitive of justice warrant from the State of West Virginia for Robbery Charges. Carpenter was taken for an initial appearance where he was held without bond pending extradition to West Virginia.

·         34 year old Frank Germaine MacDonald of Cumberland. An Officer with the Cumberland Police Dept affected a traffic stop on a vehicle in which MacDonald was the passenger. MacDonald fled from Officers on foot resulting in an officer suffering an injury while pursuing him, which required medical attention that was not life threatening. The officer was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. MacDonald was located a short time later hiding in a residence where he was taken into custody without further incident. MacDonald was served with an arrest warrant charging him with Theft and conspiring to commit theft at a business located in Lavale. MacDonald was also charged with on view charges of obstructing and hindering as a result of the foot pursuit. MacDonald was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held on a total of $4,000 pending his next court appearance.

 

 

Hit and Run

On 08/31/17 Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a residence located in the 200blk of Arch St in reference to a hit and run complaint. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim who advised that sometime during this date an unknown vehicle struck the driver side of their vehicle causing damage to the rear view mirror. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cumberland Police Dept at 301-777-1600.
