On December 18, 2019, the Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Shanel Arnold, age 32 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The Summons stemmed from an October 16, 2019 assault that occurred on Park Street in Cumberland. On October 16, 2019, the Cumberland Police responded to Park Street for an assault complaint.  When officers arrived they contacted the victim who had visible injuries. The victim informed officer that he and Shanel Arnold were in an argument.  The argument then escalated and he was struck with an unknown object by Arnold.  Subsequently, charges where applied for in District Court and a Criminal Summons was issued charging Arnold with 2^nd degree Assault.  Arnold was served with the Criminal Summons and released pending trial in District Court.
