Cumberland Police Serve Summons And Warrants

On May 10, 2016 Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Antoine Desmond Askins, age 51 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The summons was issued as a result of an investigation into a theft that occurred on May 4, 2016 at the YMCA located at 205 Baltimore Avenue.   During this complaint officers responded to the YMCA for a theft of a purse.  Information was received that Mr. Askins was observed taking the purse that contained personal items as well as US currency.  Officers were able to review video surveillance that showed Mr. Askins in possession of the purse as he was leaving the YMCA.  Charges were applied for as a result of this investigation.  Mr. Askins was served with the summons and released pending his trial date in District Court.

Charge: Theft less than $1,000

 

Arrest Warrants Served

 

On May 11, 2016 Cumberland City Police served two arrest warrants on Samantha Jo Baker, age 30 of Cumberland, Maryland.  Both warrants were issued after Baker failed to appear in District Court.  Baker was served with both warrants and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Baker was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $15,000.

Charge: 2 counts of Failure to Appear.
