On Sunday March 26, 2017, Cumberland City Police served an arrest warrant on Javon Murphy, age 28 of Cumberland, Maryland. The warrant was issued by the victim in this matter who alleged that on March 12, 2017, Murphy assaulted her at a residence on East First Street. Court documents indicate that Murphy got into an argument which led to him pulling the victim’s hair and punched her several times. After the assault took place, Murphy took a quantity of currency which belonged to the victim and left the area. Murphy was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing. He was released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court. The victim did not require medical attention.
