Cumberland Police Serve Warrant & Summons

On Sunday, December 31st, 2017, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Obraham Rivera Ortiz of Frostburg.  The warrant was issued by when application was made to District Court about a Robbery investigation that occurred back on December 27th, 2017 in the Lamont Street area.  On this date, police were called by Yellow Cab who reported that one of their drivers was flagged by a male later identified as Ortiz who allegedly attempted to forcefully take a sum of currency by gesturing to his coat that he had a weapon.  The driver managed to accelerate his vehicle before Ortiz could get any money.  Ortiz was eventually identified by the driver.  He was taken before the District Court Commission for a bond review and was released on his own personal recognizance pending trial.

Abraham Rivera Ortiz, age; 34, Frostburg, Maryland.

Charges:  Robbery, disturbing the peace/hindering passage, assault 2nd, and theft less than $100.

Released PR.

 

Criminal Summons Served

 

On December 31st, 2017, the Cumberland City Police Department served a criminal summons on Christopher Patrick Beeghly of Cumberland.  The summons was issued by District Court when an application was submitted at the conclusion of a hit and run investigation that occurred back on July 30th, 2017 on Byrd Avenue.  On this date, a vehicle admittedly driven by Beeghly struck a telephone pole and he left the scene of the accident.  The vehicle was later located by police in Beeshly’s driveway.  He signed and received copies of the charging documents and was released pending trial.

Christopher Patrick Beeghly, age; 35, Cumberland, Maryland.

Charges:  Fail of vehicle driver in accident to report to police, failure of vehicle driver to stop after property damage accident, and failure of vehicle to locate and notify owner of unattended property damage.

Criminal summons served.
