Cumberland Police Serve Warrants & Respond To Destruction of Property Complaint

On 08/22/17 the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on 45 year old Melvin Tyson Sr of Cumberland. The warrant stems from an investigation initiated by the Cumberland Police Department on August 17th, 2017 when officers responded to the 400blk of Valley St for a report of a sexual assault. Officers contacted the victim who advised that they heard a noise in the basement of their residence and then footsteps coming up the steps. They then opened the door to find Tyson, who they were familiar with. The victim was then physically assaulted with a tool and forced to a bedroom where Tyson attempted to remove their clothing. The victim was able to get away without any further incident. The victim received minor injuries and was treated at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Tyson was unable to be located which resulted in the Arrest Warrant being issued. Tyson was processed and served the arrest warrant which charged him with Burglary 1st Degree, Burglary 4th Degree, Sex Offense 4th Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Burglary 3rd Degree, Sex Offense 3rd Degree, Theft $1000 to under $10k, and Deadly Weapon Intent to Injure. Tyson was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held without bail pending his next court appearance.

 

Destructon of Property

 

On 08/22/17 at 2:42pm Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a residence located in the 1400blk of Virginia Ave for a destruction of property complaint. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim who advised that a male subject had shown up at the residence and an argument ensued. When the suspect left the residence, he damaged the front door by kicking it. Officers located the suspect a short distance away and identified him as 25 year old Nicholas Kneisley of Cumberland. Micholas was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Dept where he was issued a Maryland Criminal Citation for Destruction of Property under $500 and released pending trial in District Court.

 

 

 

Bench Warrant Served

 

On 08/22/17 Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept served a Bench Warrant on 37 year old Brandi Crouse of Frostburg. The warrant stems from Crouse Failing to Appear in District Court on an original charge of Theft Less than $100. Crouse was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where she was released on her personal recognizance pending trial.
