Cumberland To End Tax & Utility Bill Payments At Local Banks

February 21st, 2018 by WCBC Radio

As of March 30th, 2018, City of Cumberland tax and utility bill payments
will no longer be accepted at local banks.

Currently M&T, First Peoples and BB&T bank branches accept payments,
but the City will eliminate this payment option and no longer be picking up
payments from those bank locations. This change is due to payment processing
delays and under-utilization of this payment method. In the near future the City
will be implementing new utility billing software that will make electronic billing
and payments easier.

Customers still have a variety of payment options available. City tax and
utility bills can be paid (1) on-line by accessing the City’s website, (2) by signing
up for automatic bank drafting, (3) by mail via the US Postal Service, (4) in
person at City Hall, or (5) by placing payments in either of the two drop boxes,
which are located on Bedford Road across from the Police Station and at the top
of the steps outside of City Hall.

For more information, please contact the Finance Department at 301-
759-6404, or to arrange a payment method, please call the Tax & Utility Office
at 301-759-6409.
