On Friday, June 24th, 2016 an officer on patrol from the Cumberland City Police Department was waved down by a citizen who told the officer of a group of individuals near Bridge Street that were arguing and fighting.  The officer responded to the area and did observe several subjects; one female in particular that was intoxicated, yelling, and causing a disturbance.  The officer contacted the group to make them aware of the complaint and he also identified the yelling female as Amy Jean Crawford.  Crawford was instructed by the officer to stop yelling. She ignored the officer’s warnings and she continued to yell.  She was given a final warning by the officer and Crawford continued the same disruptive behavior.  Crawford was told by the officer that she was under arrest.  As the officer went to take Crawford into custody, she began to strike him in the face with her hands.  After a short struggle with Crawford, she was placed into custody.  Crawford was taken to the Cumberland City Police Station for processing and then to the Allegany County Commissioner for a bond review.  She was held on $2,500 bail and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center.
