Cumberland Woman Charged with Assault, Resisting Arrest

On Thursday, December 10th, 2020 the Cumberland Police Department responded to a N. Lee Street residence for the report of an assault.  When officers arrived, they spoke with a female victim who told officers that she was assaulted by Xianna Letese Kesler.  While investigating the complaint, Kesler began to yell and create a disturbance that was witnessed by others in the area. Kesler was told numerous times by officer to calm down and stop creating a disturbance but she continued and was arrested.  Upon being placed under arrest, Kesler resisted officers’ efforts to take her into custody.  Once in custody, she continued resist and assaulted an officer.  Kesler was transported to the Cumberland Police Station for processing where she damaged one of the holding cells while awaiting her initial appearance at District Court.  She was charged with assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and malicious destruction of property.  Kesler was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was released on an unsecured bond of $2,500 pending trial.
