On Friday at approximately 12:52 AM, the Cumberland Police Department was dispatched to the 400 block of Virginia Avenue for a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle crash. It was found that a 2000 Mazda had struck a utility pole and the sole occupant was unconscious. The Cumberland Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene and transport the driver to WMHS for treatment. The driver was later transferred to Baltimore Shock Trauma where she succumbed to her injuries.
Shelly Leeann Murphy of Cumberland, Maryland has been identified as the 23 year old female who died as a result of injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident in the 400 block of Virginia Ave. on July 26, 2013. An investigation of the accident is on-going by the Cumberland Police Department.
