Cumberland’s Second Annual Pride Celebration Kicks Off This Evening

July 11th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Cumberland’s second annual pride celebration will kick off Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. on the McCoury Family Stage in Downtown Cumberland with a candle light vigil. Cumberland Pride organizer Jacqie McKenzie said the vigil is to honor all LGBTQ individuals who have lost their lives to violence, disease or advocating for equal rights.  Following Wednesday night's vigil, Cumberland Pride will host a series of events in support of the LGBTQ community leading up to Sunday's annual Pride Festival to be held on the downtown pedestrian mall from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. McKenzie said crowd estimates for last year were around 1,000 plus and there are indications it could be larger this year with the number of vendors signed up to participate in this year's Pride Festival more than doubling for the Sunday event…
