This year marks the 20th year for United Way’s Annual Day of Caring and Sharing and the event is today. The Day of Caring and Sharing is a partnership between the United Way of Allegany County and Let’s Beautify Cumberland. Approximately 375 volunteers from businesses and organizations have registered to provide labor and support for 35 projects, 13 of which are projects at agency site locations. Mary Beth Pirolozzi, executive director of the County United Way, says this year’s event will be dedicated to the memory of former Cumberland City Councilman Harold “Butch” Hendershot. Hendershot, who passed away last weekend following a lengthy illness, is considered the founding father of the “Lets Beautify Cumberland” program…
