A lively discussion was part of the regular meeting of the Downtown Development Commission this month with some questions about allowing groups to use the downtown mall and its stages. Downtown Mall Manager Mikayla Dodge notified the board that she had received at least one request that didn’t provide an accurate description of the planned event. What was billed as a musical concert, apparently also would include speakers and a worship service. She said when word of those plans circulated, some merchants expressed concern. When DDC Chairman Sandi Saville pointed out that the DDC cannot prohibit those kinds of events- Dodge said her concern had nothing to do with the event itself, but rather with the lack of accurate information provided by the group making the request…
