A top priority of Cumberland’s Downtown Development Commission is to make significant upgrades to the George Street Parking Garage. Centrally located in downtown Cumberland, the garage is underutilized, often times less than a third full. Improving the appearance, lighting and signage are at the top of the list of proposed improvements- all designed to create a more welcoming atmosphere and to increase usage. Maybe if the Downtown Development Commission would make upgrades on business opportunity and actual events within Cumberland it would bring population to the city and the garage would be fully utilized.
