DDC Proposes Reopening Downtown Mall For Bicycle Travel

In order to create a more welcoming and friendly atmosphere for those traveling in Cumberland on bikes- the Downtown Development Commission voted recently to propose re-opening the mall for bicycle travel. Currently those riding bikes are required to dismount at either end and push their bikes if visiting the downtown businesses or just passing through. The DDC has made the request to the Cumberland Mayor and City Council. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes said that while the request can certainly be taken under advisement- there will be some challenges to seeing it implemented as proposed….
