Deadline For Potential Developers To Return Build Packages For Footer Dye Works Approaching

In a little less than two weeks, the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority will have a much better handle on what type of potential exists for the historic Footer Dye building. The authority has been seeking a developer to help with costs and to open the 31,000-square-foot structure for some type of commerce and the deadline for potential developers to return bid packages is February 18.  The authority had sent out a request for proposals to outlets in the Mid-Atlantic region, including the Pittsburgh Gazette, to solicit interest from developers in the Footer project. Andy Vick, board chairman of the authority, said recently there  is a considerable amount of interest in the project and it’s encouraging. While a committee has been selected to review the proposals and make a recommendation, one developer who was yet to be publicly indentified has made a major impression with plans that would include several businesses, a restaurant and a movie theatre.
