Del. McKay Says It’s Unlikely That There Will Be Progress On Restoration Of Highway Revenues

As has become tradition, the Cumberland City Council is standing behind members of the Maryland Municipal League; and the Allegany County Commissioners are backing the Maryland Association of Counties in supporting the restoration of highway user revenues as the No. 1 legislative priority for the 2018 session. City and county officials have mapped out the priorities for members of the board and local delegation.  Highway user revenues come from state gas taxes, and registration and titling fees. The funds are granted to municipalities and counties to help fund local transportation projects, and for years local officials have been pushing for full restoration since the fund took a significant hit after the recession.  Delegate 1C representative Mike McKay says even though there is broad support for restoring the funds statewide- with both the house and senate leadership opposed- it’s unlikely any real progress is made anytime soon…
