Delaney Comments on VA Scandal

June 6th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

Maryland 6th District Congressman John Delaney calls the scandals at some Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals are "inexcusable." At some VA hospitals around the country, there have been claims of false record-keeping and long waiting lists for care. Some vets died before they received care, but the VA's Inspector General reports that the delay didn't caused the deaths so far. Last month, the House of Representatives passed a bill to give the Secretary of Veterans Affairs more authority to demote and fire executives for poor performance. Delaney supports that, but more needs to be done to make sure veterans are getting the care they need.  Delaney told WCBC News that many VA employees are dedicated and hardworking, and do their best to make sure veterans get the care they need.
