Delaney Issues Statement On Trump’s Threat To Cut Off Foreign Aid

October 22nd, 2018 by WCBC Radio

On Monday, President Trump threatened to cut off foreign aid to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador as a caravan of migrants has reached Mexico with plans to head towards the U.S. border.

Congressman John K. Delaney (MD-6) releases the following statement:

“Withdrawing foreign aid will make conditions in Central America worse, ultimately destabilizing the region and multiplying the number of people fleeing those countries – creating larger caravans in the future. President Trump’s proposed solution, in addition to being inhumane, goes against our own national interest. In the long-term, we need a humane and rational immigration policy that increases border security, creates a path to citizenship for people that are already here and fixes DACA.  This is why I support comprehensive immigration reform along the lines of the 2013 bipartisan proposal.  I also call on the administration to develop a comprehensive strategy for addressing the conditions on the ground in Central America, which is ultimately the most cost-effective way of solving our issues at the southern border. On immigration, President Trump hasn’t solved problems, he’s created them.”

I e-mailed Delaney to let him know that I would like for him to support Pres Trump in defunding these countries. Obviously, the support we are sending them is helping

I agree with a lot of what Delaney has said here, except the last line. This did not become a problem after Trump took office. Maybe bussing them to the Canadian border would be an eye opener for some.
