Delaney Says Job Creation Top Priority

While political newcomer John Delaney easily defeated incumbent republican Congressman Roscoe Bartlett in the newly redrawn sixth district in Maryland the millionaire businessman was not warmly received by voters in Allegany County. Locally, Bartlett garned nearly 55% of the vote compared to just 42% for Delaney. The democrat congressman-elect spent little time campaigning in far Western Maryland, even choosing to bypass a candidates forum held at Allegany College of Maryland in October. Delaney says he hopes to make himself known to residents across the district in the next couple of months prior to officially taking office.  The wealthy founder of the Chevy Chase commercial lending firm CapitalSource, Delaney says his area of strength is in job creation, and given the bleak unemployment numbers, that is his top priority…

    Good to hear! Hopefully Western Maryland will have not only representation but someone who will ACTIVELY suppport and encourage growth. We are have a lot of catching up to do!
