Delaney Votes Against “Gimmick” GOP Resolution Opposing a Carbon Tax

July 19th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Today, Congressman John K. Delaney (MD-6) voted against H.Con.Res. 119, a resolution vilifying a carbon tax, and spoke on the floor in opposition.

“Beyond the fact this is just a partisan stunt, people deserve better from Congress,” added Rep. Delaney. “We should have a real debate with hearings and experts, and determine smart policy that can protect our environment AND lead to economic growth. We don’t have to choose between the two, we just need to work together.”

As a proponent of a carbon pricing mechanism, Congressman Delaney has previously introduced legislation and joins business and environmental leaders from across the country who believe this is a commonsense step toward protecting our planet from the negative effects of climate change, while helping distressed communities and investing in a cleaner, more sustainable future.
