Delegate McKay says he has Governor Hogan’s Endorsement

February 8th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Delegate Mike McKay announced on Tuesday that he has officially filed for re-election to the House of Delegates in 2018.  McKay was first elected to represent District 1C in 2014 and served as President of the Board of Allegany County Commissioners from 2010 to 2014.  McKay is currently a member on the House Appropriations Committee, where he also serves on the Public Safety and Administration and Capital Budget subcommittees and the oversight committee on personnel.

“It’s been a privilege to serve Washington and Allegany Counties in the House of Delegates, and I look forward to doing so for four more years,” McKay said.  “In my first term, I’ve stood with Governor Hogan to end the O’Malley tax-and-spend era, create transparency in state government, and provide record-funding for education without raising a single tax.  There’s still plenty of work to do, and I hope that voters in District 1C will trust me to represent our shared conservative values as I always have.”

McKay’s campaign for re-election has a strong supporter in Governor Larry Hogan, who praised his common-sense conservative record.  “Delegate McKay has consistently been one of the most common-sense fiscally-conservative representatives in Annapolis, and I look forward to him continuing to help me ‘Change Maryland’ for four more years,” Hogan said.

McKay highlighted his conservative credentials — noting his 100% pro-business rating from Maryland Business for Responsive Government in 2017 and his 85% lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union – and commented on what his priorities would be in a second term. “I’ll continue working with Governor Hogan on the Appropriations Committee to deliver responsible budgets that keep taxes low, and I look forward to leading the fight against the opioid and heroin epidemic in Western Maryland,” McKay concluded.
