DelFest Contract Issues Still Unresolved

August 7th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

Although both parties are on record as saying a new contract between Allegany County and Delfest representatives is close at hand- sources have confirmed to WCBC News that there are still some major hurdles to clear. Delfest, the popular music festival that has been held at the Allegany County Fairgrounds on Memorial Day weekend for the past ten years, is without a contract- and talks have been ongoing since late last year. While the cliché “crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s” has been used by both sides during the process- WCBC News has learned that the unresolved issues are substantial. Those include who will compensate the newly created position of Delfest liaison; a non compete clause; whether the county is ready to commit tourism and fairgrounds services for Delfest requests; the need for a default and cure clause in the new contract; and a 50/50 split of the amusement tax, with 50% going into a fund for fairground improvements. Again while both sides are publicly saying a deal is near, at least one person involved in the talks summed up the current situation by saying “we are not almost there”.
