Delfest Rep doesn’t see full county support

While he remains optimistic that a new five year contract to continue DelFest at the Allegany County Fairgrounds will be signed in the near future- DelFest business representative Stan Strictland has made it clear that not everyone in county government seems supportive of retaining the popular festival. Strictland, who represents bluegrass legend Del McCoury, says that while there has been tremendous cooperation from Commissioners Bill Valentine and Creade Brodie; tourism director Barb Buehl; fairgrounds manager Kevin Kammauf and Public Works Director Paul Kahl- the same cannot be said for some others. He specifically made note of public comments made by commissioners president Jake Shade suggesting that a change be made in tourism- essentially replacing Buehl- a move that would not sit well with the DelFest organization…
