Democrats Still Upset Over Hogan Discourse

Many democrats are still seething from some off the cuff comments made last week by Maryland’s Republican Governor Larry Hogan. On a Baltimore radio talk show last week, Governor Hogan made remarks likening state legislators to spring break vacationgoers. State Senator Bobby Zirkin, a Baltimore County Democrat, said even if the governor was only joking, his remarks came across as insensitive given the serious nature of some of the hearings that have been held in Annapolis recently. He specifically referenced a hearing that was held the day before Hogan’s comments-  where several rape victims provided emotional testimony before the Judicial Proceedings Committee. He said remarks like that don't just trivialize the work of legislators; they trivialize the testimony of those who come to Annapolis hoping to improve the law.  Zirkin said unfortunately it appears that the governor has adopted some of the habits of GOP presidential front runner Donald Trump when it comes to public discourse…
