Design Plans For Downtown Mall Currently Under Review

Design plans for the downtown pedestrian mall are currently under review- with all of the plans containing a re-opening for vehicular traffic and limited parking. The plans are part of the economic development strategic program being put together by the Cumberland Economic Development Corp. as well as associates from McCormick Taylor, a Baltimore-based engineering and design firm, and the Sage Policy Group, an economic development consulting company also based in Baltimore.  The design concepts include a bike path only, one-way auto traffic with and without parking, and two-way vehicle traffic with and without parking. Ultimately the Cumberland Mayor and City Council will have final say, but Mayor Brian Grim says the process hasn’t reached that stage just yet…
