Despite County Lagging Behind, State Vax Rate One of Nation’s Best

It was a glowing COVID-19 vaccination report presented by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan this week. Maryland has administered more than 8.3 million COVID-19 vaccines, including: 98% of Marylanders 65 and older, 85.9% of Marylanders 18 and older and 84.9% of all eligible Marylanders 12 and older. Health Secretary Dennis Schrader called Maryland one of the most vaccinated states in the country noting that nearly 85% of the eligible population 12 and older have had at least one dose. Unfortunately Allegany County continues to lag  behind the state in most COVID numbers. While Maryland’s fully vaccinated rate is now above 66%- Allegany County is just over 46%.
