It’s a concept that seems to get discussed at least every few years- often times in election cycles: consolidation of city and county governments. A recent caller to WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” as well as a letter to the editor in the Cumberland Times-News suggested that the city fathers in Cumberland take a serious look at voting to be absorbed by Allegany County. While many believe having one government entity oversee the county and city would lead to a stronger, more efficient operation leading to lower taxes- Cumberland Mayor Brian Grim tells WCBC News that quite the opposite is true…
