DNC: Maryland among hardest hit by government shutdown

January 2nd, 2019 by WCBC Radio

The Democratic National Committee on Wednesday released a statement critical of President Trump and the current federal government shutdown- noting that more than twenty-three thounsand Marylanders are being directly impacted.

The statement reads:

Maryland, home to 147,000 federal workers, is disproportionately affected by the shutdown. According to one study, in Maryland alone, at least 23,346 workers are furloughed or working without pay — though these estimates likely understate the impact of Trump’s completely avoidable shutdown.

Make no mistake: Donald Trump is responsible for this shutdown and its impact on Maryland. He said it himself, “I will be the one to shut it down.” And, if Senate Republicans refuse this week to back the bipartisan solution they already supported, then they will also be responsible for holding these Marylanders’ paychecks hostage.

Maryland families shouldn’t have to pay the price for Trump’s political stunts and temper tantrums. Democrats are taking action to end the Trump Shutdown, and it’s time for Republicans to join them.

I wish the state of Maryland was as worried about blue collar jobs half as much as white collar jobs!
